Poll finds only 3% of the public are strongly apposed to wind power
Two thirds of public broadly support the use of wind power, with only 3% strongly opposed. So says an Ipsos MORI poll commissioned by RenewableUK (formerly the British Wind Energy Association).
RenewableUK said the figures provided more evidence to show that while there is small but vocal anti-wind energy contingent, a majority of the public support the UK's abundant wind resources.
The poll also found that most people don’t find wind farms ugly either, with 57% scoring 7 or more out of 10 on the scale of visual acceptability.
Maria McCaffery, Chief Executive, RenewableUK says, “That the majority of people find wind farms ugly has long been a myth propagated by a small minority. This research has shown that a majority find the look of wind farms acceptable.”
